eBay and PayPal support the Initiative "Pro Net Neutrality" The managing director of the online marketplace eBay, Dr. Stephan Zoll, and the managing Director of the online payment service PayPal, Gregor Bieler, and otheremployees of the company have signed the initiative "Pro Net Neutrality”. eBay thus supports the call for a legal establishment of the principle of network neutrality.'
U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31) took time during the August congressional recess to tour PayPal’s Austin, Texas Data Services Center. Hosted by head of the office, Terence Spielman, along with members of the eBay Inc. Government Relations team, the visit marked Congressman Carter’s first introduction to the company. Today in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Paul Hodes (D-NH), along with Congressmen Schrader (D-OR), Pitts (R-PA), Lungren (R-CA), and Congresswoman Capito (R-WV), introduced H. Res 1570, a bipartisan resolution supporting the “preservation of Internet Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses.” This resolution expresses the growing opposition to a bill introduced earlier this month by Congressman Delahunt (D-MA), which would impose onerous new tax burdens on small online retailers by requiring the collection and remittance of sales tax for every purchase in every sales tax jurisdiction nationwide. eBay has been a vocal opponent of Congress\' plan to levy new Internet sales taxes on some of our favorite small business retailers (including eBay sellers and buyers).
