December 18, 2012

Last week the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, and the Federal Member for Wills, Kelvin Thomson, visited the designed in brunswick pop-up shop in Brunswick, Victoria to see how the business is benefiting from the National Broadband Network.

The business designs, manufactures and markets hand-printed textiles; as well as being a specialty design and food publishing house.

designed in brunswick is currently trialling a PayPal innovation, PayPal Here.  It uses a small card reader and a smartphone app that processes payments and deposits the money directly into the company's PayPal account.  This technology represents the next step in payments processing.  The business is run by Aisling Gallagher and Neil Hargreaves.

"Customers have been really interested in PayPal Here.  It's cheaper and more convenient for our business than using EFTPOS," Hargreaves said.

Earlier this year, Minister Conroy visited eBay Inc. headquarters in San Jose, CA.  The trip included a visit to the PayPal Shopping Showcase which demonstrates the use of PayPal Here.
