On Monday, June 4th, Australian Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy visited eBay Inc. in San Jose. Minister Conroy was in California visiting Silicon Valley companies to gain industry perspectives on the local and global business opportunities that have been created by public investment in broadband networks and through access to increased bandwidth, especially in relation to commerce.

Minister Conroy met with eBay Inc. CEO John Donahoe to discuss current Australian public policy priorities and toured the PayPal Shopping Showcase, which highlights how PayPal is helping consumers make easy and secure payments within the comforts of their home and their local retail store.

Last year, Minister Conroy appointed Deborah Sharkey, Vice President of eBay Australia & New Zealand as a NBN (National Broadband Network) champion. Broadband champions are a group of prominent Australians, each respected experts in their field, who are passionate about helping households and businesses to better understand how they can benefit from high-speed broadband.
