Earlier this month, the Centre for Internet Safety, based at the University of Canberra with the support of eBay Inc, delivered the Surf between the Flags initiative with the Federal Member for Canberra, Gai Brodtmann MP.

Surf Between the Flags is an interesting, engaging, and contemporary presentation that helps people learn about the trends and issues of being online along with the risks and benefits. The interactive session empowers participants and educates them on cyber safety. The Roadshow travels through major cities as well as regional and rural Australia. Sessions are tailored to young people, families and businesses depending upon the audience.

eBay has in place a number of measures to protect eBay users from cyber security threats. These include measures to prevent customers from becoming victims of phishing and identity theft schemes.

PayPal’s Security Centre provides advice to consumers on how to combat identity theft, prevent online fraud, make secure purchases online, report fake (phishing) emails, and to report fake (spoof) websites.
