President Biden’s Cabinet Nominations: Small Business and the Economy

The eBay’s Government Relations team is working closely with the new Congress and the Biden Administration to advocate for small businesses in economic recovery.  President Biden has nominated the following individuals for his Cabinet positions related to Small Business and Economic issues.  The positions listed below are those that require Senate confirmation and this blog will be updated periodically following votes on the nominees.  The information in this blog first appeared on National Public Radio and Wikipedia.      

Department of Commerce

Position: Secretary

Nominee: Gina Raimondo

Role: Advises on trade policy, collects economic data, oversees the census, the National Weather Service and NOAA.

Announced:  January 7, 2021

Bio Highlights: Governor of Rhode Island (2015–present); General Treasurer of Rhode Island (2011–2015)

Department of Justice

Position: Attorney General

Nominee: Merrick Garland

Role: Top legal official in the federal government. Advises the White House on legal and judicial matters.

Bio Highlights: Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (2013–2020); Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1997–present)

Department of Transportation

Position: Secretary

Nominee: Pete Buttigieg

Role: Advises on transportation policy. Oversees regulators for aviation, highways, railways, pipelines and others.
