Paypal Australia Goes to Parliament in Support of Small Businesses

March 9, 2011

Members of the PayPal Government Relations team hosted a merchant fly-in at the Parliament House of Australia, Canberra, with some of the region’s most impressive PayPal-enabled merchants. The event gave the small business owners, including Shoes of Prey, Envato and Deals Direct, the opportunity to share with Ministers and Shadow Ministers how small business innovation is impacting the online retail space in Australia.

PayPal Australia TeamThe merchants spoke passionately about PayPal and its critical role in facilitating small businesses and e-commerce in Australia. PayPal has been the preferred choice of sellers because of its efficient and convenient payment services. Other discussions with government officials focused on education, postal services and banking regulation.

The officials were extremely receptive to the input of PayPal merchants. They showed strong commitment to successfully delivering the National Broadband Network (NBN) as well as facilitating a legislative and policy environment that would be more supportive of online businesses.
