The First National Broadband Network on Mainland Australia Launched

February 17, 2010

On 17th February 2010 Senator Conroy attended Mt Isa to launch the first National Broadband Network (NBN) on mainland Australia. The $250 million project when complete will connect “more than 100 regional locations and benefit 395,000 people in regional Australia.” says Conroy.

The Federal government has pledged $43 billion into the National Broadband Network which eBay recognises as a significant step to improving infrastructure for the online space. The NBN will create a faster and more accessible broadband network that will allow e-commerce and the digital economy to expand at faster rate.

eBay welcomes the Federal Government’s investment into the National Broadband Network and looks forward to the project being rolled out as quickly as possible.
