eBay GR and TechNet Host California State Assembly Candidates at San Jose Campus

September 25, 2012

In conjunction with TechNet, eBay Government Relations recently hosted three candidates for the California State Assembly at eBay’s San Jose campus.  The candidates included San Francisco County Assessor Phil Ting, Central Valley businessman Adam Gray and Los Angeles area educator Anthony Rendon.  The candidates received a policy briefing led by Tod Cohen, Vice President of Government Relations and Deputy General at eBay Inc, where he discussed the importance of protecting small business Internet retailers from unnecessary tax burdens, the need to preserve the open secondary tickets market and the importance of electronic payments for future commerce.  The candidates also toured the PayPal Shopping Showcase and had a policy lunch with several tech company representatives including Facebook, Apple, Cisco and others.  If the candidates win election in November they could serve as long as twelve years in the State Assembly under California’s new term-limits law.
