There\'s a simple fact that has sold countless stories on the silver screen and elsewhere: Audiences love to see the underdog win. There\'s a definite subversive pleasure in seeing the undisputed champion cornered while the fresh up-and-comer threatens the leader\'s position.
And even in an unlikely setting as Korea\'s e-commerce market, such an analogy has driven the media narrative. Then who\'s in the defending corner? Multinational e-commerce giant eBay Inc., whose local unit eBay Korea owns No. 1 and No. 2 online marketplaces GMarket and Internet Auction Co., better known as Auction.
