In less than 24 hours, numerous technology industry trade organizations have released public statements of support for the Lungren-Lofgren resolution "Supporting the Preservation of Internet Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses," a bipartisan effort to oppose new tax requirements on small e-tailers. Today in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Daniel Lungren (R-CA) and lead Democratic sponsor Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) introduced a bipartisan resolution “Supporting the Preservation of Internet Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses.”  This resolution clearly expresses opposition to states imposing new tax burdens on small businesses on the Internet, including requirements to collect and remit sales taxes for out-of-state online purchases.
