Supreme Court Rejects Tiffany Trademark Appeal -- A Win for eBay

On Monday, The Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Tiffany and Co. in a major trademark case, solidifying the ruling handed down in eBay\'s favor this September. eBay was not held liable for trademark infringements stemming from sales on its website by individuals. eBay Inc. continues to favor an open marketplace and actively pursues possible cases of fraud on its websites.

eBay Inc. Works with Law Enforcement to Put a “Bad Guy” Behind Bars

Check out this CNBC story highlighting the work of several different eBay Inc. staff departments who worked together to bring a bad actor to justice. Eric Weinstein was sentenced to five years in prison for using fraudulent names and credit cards to scam the company and avoid paying fees. Upon release from prison, he will be ordered to make monthly payments toward $900,000 in restitution to eBay.

John Donahoe: Taxing Internet sales would hurt New Hampshire more than most other states

Small retailers face a growing political challenge: a tax-policy lobbying battle over the appropriate role of sales tax collection on Internet retail. Many state governments face revenue problems. Some people claim that new sales tax collection on Internet retail is the answer. Given that less than 5 percent of retail sales today are online, that’s obviously not true.
