The “eBay Deine Stadt” initiative is a local platform that allows local sellers in Germany to trade on eBay. Conducted in partnership with the German Retail Association, this program enables small retailers who were hit hard by COVID-19 to quickly utilize another channel to reach consumers. Participating SMBs get an eBay premium shop for free for the first six months, don’t have to pay fees for the first three months and receive our premium customer support. This project truly enables our community and more than 20 cities are already participating in the program.
During this years’ eBay Open Event the six winners of our contest were announced. Under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Economy, this contest was awarded the most successful and most active cities taking part in the program. But the program is not only a success for the participants - since the launch in April of this year, more than 1,200 sellers from the ten initial participating cities have opened a new online shop on eBay. In total, the traders in the ten starting cities have sold more than 2.7 million items since the launch.
