Montana Attorney General Announces Coalition Opposing Online Sales Tax

Today, Montana Attorney General Tim Fox announced that his office is driving the formation of a coalition with other state attorneys general to oppose the Marketplace Fairness Act (MFA) currently being considered by the U.S. House of Representatives.  The coalition, which includes attorneys general from Oregon and Alaska, has begun researching the constitutional problems associated with the MFA.  Said Attorney General Fox “Montanans have rejected a sales tax several times, and they certainly don’t want to be forced to collect the sales taxes of 9,600 cities, counties and states”.
