eBay China and Shanghai Law Enforcement Host First-Ever Seminar

August 26, 2009

eBay China and Shanghai People’s Procuratorate of Huangpu District Branch jointly hosted a seminar on "Prevention Against E-Commerce Crime”. This is the first time in Shanghai for Law Enforcement authorities and E-commerce companies to sit in one room to discuss how to prevent E-commerce crime.

The seminar was supported by Shanghai People\'s Procuratorate. There were around 30 participants from Law Enforcement agencies, Huangpu District government and E-commerce companies. Mr. Hong Yongxin, Deputy Attorney-General of Shanghai People\'s Procuratorate of Huangpu District Branch and Oliver Hua made the keynote speeches. The attendees also included the Deputy Director of Shanghai Commerce Committee of Huangpu District, the Deputy Director of Shanghai Police of Huangpu District, and more. On the panel were representatives from E-commerce companies such as Snda.com, Ctrip.com.cn, and 9you.com. All attendees shared experiences and raised questions of what problems they met.

The seminar closed with the concluding speech delivered by Mr. Li Ning, Director of Crime Investigation of Shanghai People\'s Procuratorate. This is the first seminar on E-Commerce crimes co-hosted by Law Enforcement agencies and E-commerce companies, but with the development of E-Commerce in China, this will not be the last one. It is just the beginning, and we believe that there will be more and more chances for enterprises and government agencies to sit and discuss issues together, and create a more mature E-Commerce environment in China.
