Empowering Small Business Trade
eBay advocates for policies that provide American small businesses access to global markets, so they can grow and thrive.
American small businesses benefit from access to global markets.
American small businesses on eBay can seamlessly reach customers in more than 190 markets around the globe. It’s an opportunity sellers in both urban and rural areas benefit from. In fact, our research shows:
- 96% of eBay-enabled small businesses export compared to only 1% of traditional businesses
- eBay-enabled small businesses reach an average of 14 different foreign destination markets
- 56% of eBay-enabled small businesses reach customers on four or more continents
By providing American small businesses access to a global customer base — no matter where they are located — we can help them grow, and, in turn, create positive economic benefits for entire communities.
That’s why eBay advocates for creating a trade framework that supports small businesses and entrepreneurs.
As countries phase out de minimis thresholds for low-value imports, a policy that allows imported goods below a certain value to enter the destination market duty free, sellers and buyers are facing new challenges. Individual exporters are managing new customs challenges while consumers face higher costs as they look for affordable options. Used goods are not exempt from this policy, creating unique challenges for many eBay sellers.
Against this backdrop, eBay continues to invest in strategic initiatives and advocate for policies that support our community.
"eBay has provided my business with easier access to customers around the world, significantly increasing my business's profits and elevating brand recognition."
