November 5, 2015

Today, Federica Rabiolo of eBay’s Government Relations team and Teresa Pais, owner of eBay store CorkSpirit and Portuguese SME, participated in a conference titled ‘Women and Digital: Where Are We? A Revolution en Rose’ hosted by Member of the European Parliament Allessia Mosca in Milan, Italy. The event convened various stakeholders of the European digital economy to discuss how new digital tools and technologies, along with the European Commission’s Digital Single Market Strategy, can boost women’s empowerment within the European Union in an effort to improve the European economy. Teresa shared her small business testimony with participants and was able to convey how the eBay platform successfully helps women entrepreneurs start and operate their own small business with few barriers. Furthermore, she discussed what opportunities the Internet and technology can offer to all women within the European Union. Federica focused her remarks on both the opportunities that eBay provides to EU SMEs as a marketplace and what eBay is doing as an organization to ensure gender parity within its workforce. She highlighted eBay’s Women’s Initiative Network and the progress that has been made through the network in closing the workforce gender gap and in creating a more inclusive and diverse work environment.
