Last week eBay General Counsel Marie Huber won the National Association of Women Lawyers’ 2016 Leadership Award.  As one of the very few Asian-American women serving as a General Counsel for a Fortune 500 company, Marie shared with the group that she is “passionate about advocating for women in our profession, particularly in technology law.”

The focus of Marie’s acceptance speech was the subject of gender diversity in technology.  She pointed out that in 2014, eBay committed to annually publish its global gender diversity and U.S. ethnic diversity workforce data. We found that eBay has some of the strongest data among our peers:

  • Globally, eBay is 43% female
  • 29% of eBay’s leadership positions are now held by women
  • In tech roles, eBay is at 24% women
  • 4 out of 12 members of the CEO’s executive leadership team are women.

eBay has focused on female tech recruiting and has established partnerships with leading academic institutions to better understand issues facing gender diversity. And eBay has taken steps to broaden our definition of diversity beyond gender to ensure we have diverse candidate slates for open roles, particularly when it comes to leadership positions.  “I’m extremely proud of what we’re doing at eBay”, said Marie.

The Government Relations team would like to congratulate Marie on winning this prestigious award.
