The Pro's Closet (TPC) is the world's largest used cycling store. Buying used means customers are leaving lighter carbon footprints by extending a product's lifecycle. TPC prides themselves on their commitment to their customers by providing the same level of customer service one would expect from their local bike shop only in a used marketplace.
The Pro’s Closet has 2 locations, a drop off location in Denver and their main storefront, located in Boulder, Colorado.
About 40 percent of The Pro's Closet's sales are to international markets like Australia and Japan. Nick credits international sales picking up in part to customers realizing they have easy access via eBay to products unavailable in local markets.
The Pro's Closet
While living in his Volkswagen Bus and only the task of riding a bike on his to-do list, Nick Martin began a simple mission: sell all of his worldly possessions on eBay. Minus his bike and his bus, Nick sold everything. Fast-forward 8 years to today and we present to you, The Pro’s Closet. The Pro’s Closet has become the nation’s largest eBay store specializing in reselling used cycling gear. Nick hopes that representatives clearly understand how a small Internet-enabled business in his district would be negatively impacted by proposed Internet sales tax legislation, specifically by the current small business definition.
More than anything else, I am worried that this legislation would not only hurt our ability to grow, but it will directly increase our overhead costs and prevent us from creating more jobs in Boulder. Tax software does not protect online businesses from the costly audits and litigation in states that are thousands of miles away from where they live and work. Collecting and paying sales tax is much more complicated than a couple clicks of the mouse.
