eBay Testifies Before House Of Representatives On Postal Reform

April 15, 2013

Last week Carl Gish, Vice President of Global Shipping for eBay, submitted testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, U.S. Postal Services and the Census.  Carl’s testimony outlined how eBay is partnering with the U.S. Postal Service to empower Internet-enabled small business to serve their local and global customers.  Approximately 85% of eBay’s domestic shipping is handled by the USPS, which makes eBay Sellers collectively the USPS’ single largest package customer.

The main purpose of Carl’s testimony was to impress upon the Committee just how critical a financially and structurally sound Postal Service is to eBay customers.  eBay believes Congress should focus on reforms that preserve and promote affordable and reliable shipping alternatives for small businesses, for both domestic and foreign sales.  Sound USPS services, pricing and policies support small business growth, just as small businesses support the USPS’ ability to operate.

eBay will continue to represent our customers’ interests with the USPS.  Click here to see our full testimony.
