eBay Chief Diversity Officer Joins White House for Workforce Diversity Roundtables

December 2, 2016

In August 2011, President Obama issued Executive Order 13583 to coordinate government efforts to promote diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the federal government, which is the nation’s largest employer.  Executive Order 13583 has culminated in a series of D&I initiatives including, most recently, the White House Summit on Diversity and Inclusion in Government.

Damien Hooper-Campbell, eBay’s first Chief Diversity Officer, was invited to the White House Summit to share best practices on building and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce, workplace and marketplace. Damien joined eBay in June 2016 and brings deep experience in community engagement and D&I through his previous work within the technology, finance, non-profit and academic industries.

At the Summit, Damien joined D&I leaders from both the public and private communities. He was asked to present a case study highlighting how eBay is helping to create safe and inclusive spaces for our employees to share ideas, sentiments and personal experiences - all with a goal of creating more innovative ideas for our buyers and sellers and a better place to work for our employees. The two-day Summit experience concluded with a breakout session of public and private D&I tech leaders and engineers to brainstorm on actionable ideas to further diversify the public and private tech communities.

eBay was proud to be represented at this important White House event.  We look forward to future collaboration with government officials to support diverse and inclusive workplaces both at eBay and across sectors.
