Atlanta Small Business Voices Concern with Internet Sales Tax Legislation

August 16, 2013

John Stack, owner of A City Discount in Atlanta, Georgia, recently wrote his local paper expressing his concerns with the Internet sales tax legislation that is currently before the U.S. House of Representatives.  As the owner of a family-run business that has been in operation for over 40 years, Mr. Stack is worried about how he will be able to support his employees and his community if the so called Marketplace Fairness Act were to become law and he was forced to keep track of almost 10,000 sales tax jurisdictions.  "If this piece of legislation passes, we are in serious danger of losing some of our extended family.  During the last couple years my business has grown at an annual rate of 25%, but I worry that the implementation of an online sales tax could halt growth all together."
