Letter to the Editor Defends Online Sellers Against Sales Tax Legislation
eBay's Tod Cohen, Vice President of Global Government Relations, argues that a streamlined sales tax will unfairly burden small business owners, in a letter to the editor published in the Wisconsin State Journal. Many small retailers turn to the Internet and sites like eBay as a way to compete with large retailers. Forcing them to comply with tax jurisdictions around the country will add additional costs to running their business.

Internet Stars Back "America's Got Net" Video Competition
Craig of Craigslist and other Internet “stars” have teamed up with the Open Internet Coalition to serve as judges for the “America’s Got Net” video competition. The nationwide contest is seeking small businesses, non-profits and individuals to create short videos to tell policymakers in Washington what the open Internet means to them and why it must be protected.

The Facts: Internet Sales Tax and the Streamlined Sales Tax Project
A group of states calling themselves the Streamlined Sales Tax Project (SSTP) is lobbying Congress to give them the authority to require out of state businesses to collect and remit sales taxes for Internet commerce. The complex rules and tax rates could be regularly modified and changed by a Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, comprised of a group of state tax officials from the member states.
